Cold brew coffee

Cold brew coffee

There are many ways to prepare coffee. This one is one of the most interesting ones, especially during summer, when you don’t feel like preparing anything heat related.  Cold brew coffee is coffee that is not brewed, but macerated for several hours, either at room temperature or in the refrigerator. It takes much longer to make than classic coffees, but this way of preparation secures the highest level of caffeine in a serving. It tastes great with cold milk (I choose almond or soy but feel free to experiment). You can also add ice cubes if you long for ice coffee.

Ingredients (1 large serving)

2 tablespoons of coarse ground coffee (the degree of grinding is extremely important here. If you use the classic ground coffee, the end result will have a marshy aftertaste. The degree of grinding should be about the same as for the French press coffee maker

250 – 300 ml of cold water

Recipe

  1. Place ground coffee in a pot (I use French press), pour water over and let it stand covered either at room temperature or in the refrigerator for about 12 hours.
  2. If you use a French press, strain the coffee and pour it into a glass. If you are using pot without a strainer, pour the coffee through either a fine-mesh strainer, through thick gauze or through a coffee filter
  3. You can add milk of your choise and / or ice cubes
