Mackerel sandwich spread without… mackerel

Mackerel sandwich spread without… mackerel

It is unbelievable that the sandwich spread, that does not contain the smallest piece of fish, is very difficult to distinguish from the classic version with smoked mackerel. The secret is smoked tofu, linseed oil and nori, which give it a fishy flavor. In addition, the fish-free version is a million times faster to prepare than the classic version.

Recipe

a cube of tofu (180-225g)

1.5 – 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise (preferably vegan)

05 – 1 teaspoon of mustard

2 nori sheets

linseed oil – approximately 2 -4 tbsp

half a bunch of parsley

salt and pepper to taste.

Recipe

  1. In a food processor, put the tofu, linseed oil, mayonnaise and mustard and blend into a smooth paste. Adjust the amount of linseed oil to the desired consintency of the spread. If the paste is too thick in your opinion, add more oil and blend again.
  2. Cut the nori sheets into very fine pieces (you can do it with scissors), or grind them in a coffee grinder
  3. Add finely chopped nori to the spread
  4. Add finely chopped parsley (of course, you can also cut it with scissors)
  5. Season with salt and pepper, mix everything well and serve with freshly baked bread.
