Crispy asparagus

Crispy asparagus

I adore asparagus for its great taste and also for its elegant looks. I’m not sure if you know that asparagus is regarded as an aphrodisiac, mainly due to its phallic shape and this makes asparagus even more intriguing ;-). That’s why it’s a perfect choice for all sorts of romantic dinners, especially since it so versatile that it can be prepared in thousands of different ways, always being delicious. Today I serve asparagus the crispy way. I’m sure you gonna like it being served this way. And since it’s aphrodisiac, let it be your foreplay 🙂

Ingredients:

a bunch of asparagus (green and/or white)

1 large egg

2 tablespoons of flour

6 tablespoons of finely grated parmesan or grana padano cheese

0,5 cup of breadcrumbs

olive oil

salt and pepper to taste

1 teaspoons of herbs and spices of your choice e.g. sweet paprica, thyme or herbs de Provence

Recipe

1. Prepare asparagus – cut off the end of green asparagus or peel it. In case of white asparagus peel it all along, except the tip
2. Preheat the oven up to 180°C
3. Prepare three plates or containers. On the first one place flour, on the second one pour 1 beaten egg and on the last one combine breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, salt and pepper and herbs and spices
4.Lightly sprinkle asparagus with water
5. Take each asparagus and coat it with flour from the first plate, then dip in beaten egg from the second plate and then coat in parmesan and breadcrumbs mixture from the third plate
6.  Arrange asparagus on a baking tray covered with non-stick baking paper
7. Sprinkle with olive oil
8. Bake for 15-25 minutes until crispy. At the end of baking you can turn grill for approximately 0,5 – 1 minute to make asparagus even more crispy and golden brown.
